What are loops?

Loops tend to be something that is not expected from us. Learn about the true meaning behind loops.

What are loops? You may perceive that they are an alternation of patterns. It’s not wrong. However, there is something more profound about loops than that. From continuous words to transient global amnesia, loops may be intriguing but also creepy.

Let’s talk about repetition in our speech. For example, a person in a radio podcast sang the same lyrics repeatedly. When we think she will stop singing, she repeats the same thing again. First, we find it funny and humorous since she does not know how to stop. When we listen to it for more than two minutes, things get repetitive, and we lose interest.

Not only do loops sound ominous, but it can also sound mysterious. A long time ago, a person used radio tapes. In the recordings, he connected the two ends of the tape and bound them together. It made a sound similar to a loop. But as it continued, it faded away. People described the sound as “life” because a life starts healthy, but slowly descends until death.

A woman who had a real-life experience with loops tells a creepy story from 2010. She talks about how Mary Sue, her mother, fell into a loop. Mary suddenly forgot everything in her life and repeated sentences every 90 seconds. However, soon her memory started to come back, making the loop appear later. Doctors say that she fell into transient global amnesia. Eventually, her memory recovered entirely. The doctor explained that people with this disease all fall into this loop. The “loop” is a repetition of talking about the same thing over and over again. The doctor’s theory was that the brain couldn’t make new memories, making the loop. The brain learns what happens, but after a moment, it cannot recall it.

Loops, a rather thought-provoking topic, has motivated others to create hooky songs and ideas, which we can find everywhere in the world. A mysterious topic has further to be found on Earth and is waiting for more mysteries to unfold.
