Many people probably think of ChatGPT or, more recently, DeepSeek when talking about AI. However, there are thousands of open-source AI models, including the new Claude 3.7 Sonnet and Claude Code made by Anthropic, a San Francisco-based startup.

Claude 3.7 Sonnet

Anthropic released the Claude 3.7 Sonnet on February 24th. According to Anthropic, Claude 3.7 is the “first hybrid reasoning model on the market,” able to respond almost instantly or think step-by-step, which is visible to the user.

In some areas, Claude 3.7 can beat OpenAI’s 01 model, with statistics from Anthropic. The tables also show that Claude 3.7’s extended thinking ability is very useful, compared to Claude 3.7 without extended thinking.

Claude Code

Claude Code is an early product, having the ability to run on one’s terminal, fix bugs, understand the structure of a project, and much more. This can become very useful to developers, as it already is for the Anthropic team. Because Claude Code is a very new tool, it will need more testing and usage to make it better.

Which AI Model is the Best?

With so many models with different properties and abilities, there can be some discussion on which AI model is the best out of them all. The answer is none of them. When comparing two AI models, one could be better at a specific subject, but the other AI model might perform well on another subject. There is no one best model. As the development of AI grows, AI will become far more intelligent and useful than it already is.
